BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Kusminsky is a graduate from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he
obtained an MD degree in 1967. He then trained in general surgery in Philadelphia, PA, at the
Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Medical College of
                   Pennsylvania.
Because of his interest in Surgical Oncology, he pursued further training at Baylor University
in Dallas, TX, where he completed his education in Colon and Rectal Surgery. His interest in
epidemiology resulted in a Masters in Public Health degree from West Virginia University.
From the beginning of his surgical career, he developed expertise in the diagnosis and
treatment of diseases of the Breast. His interest in Brest Diseases led to his participation in
the original research - in association with the University of Vermont - that established the
sampling of the sentinel node in breast cancer as a routine step in the decision making
process used today in patients with this disease. The sentinel node sampling is used in the
diagnostic process of other cancers as well, such as melanoma. Dr Kusminsky is currently
researching a method of detecting the sentinel node in breast cancer patients with
Ultrasound assistance exclusively. His curriculum includes more than 30 published scientific
papers, many of them dealing with diseases of the breast. He lectures often on issues relating
