Charleston Area Medical Center's cancer services provide comprehensive and complete cancer treatment that focuses on the patients' medical, practical and emotional needs. The program has been accredited since 1947 by the American College of Surgeon’s (ACoS) Commission on Cancer (CoC) program and received another three-year accreditation with commendation in 2014. Our David Lee Cancer Center sees more patients than any other cancer center in the state, and about 81 percent of new cancer cases reported locally by the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) are diagnosed and treated at CAMC each year. In addition, the CAMC Children’s Cancer Center had 692 hematology/oncology visits last year, an average of 58 per month.

We have dedicated inpatient and outpatient specialty areas that offer a collaborative approach to medicine. Our physicians follow the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines, and provide treatment to patients of all ages. Cancers treated at our facilities include, but are not limited to, breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, ovarian cancer, skin cancer/melanoma, pancreatic cancer, cervical cancer, liver cancer, and leukemia. If you have cancer symptoms, it is very important to have them checked by a doctor. If cancer is not the cause of your symptoms, your doctor can help figure out what the problem is and request a course of treatment if necessary.
