Samuel Deem, DO, is a graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV. He completed surgical residency at Pinnacle Health in Harrisburg, PA, from 2004-2006 and urology residency at Charleston Area Medical Center from 2006-2010 where he was Chief Urology Resident from 2009-2010. Dr. Deem then completed a fellowship in minimally invasive urologic oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina from 2010-2011.
Dr. Deem is an active member of multiple national organizations including the American Urological Association, American Society of Clinical Oncologists, Society of Urologic Oncology, and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He has various research interests that has culminated in multiple publications in various medical journals on urologic topics.
Dr. Deem has a special interest in the minimally invasive surgical treatment of genitourinary cancers including cancer of the kidneys, adrenal gland, bladder, prostate, and testicles. He has specialized training in robotic and laparoscopic surgery for management of these malignant diseases. He also performs routine management of general urology issues including kidney stones, vasectomy, hematuria, BPH and open surgery.
A native of West Virginia, Dr. Deem lives in Charleston with his wife, Emily, and their two sons.
