Recuperating from an accident, major surgery or illness can be challenging and even life changing. When your doctor feels you need more recovery time as a patient, the medical rehabilitation team at CAMC is focused on helping you restore mobility and independence.
As one of only two hospital-based rehabilitation centers in West Virginia and the largest hospital-based rehab program in the state, you have on-site access to the comprehensive resources of our medical center, including laboratory, respiratory therapy, neurosciences and imaging services. It also means nursing staff are on site 24-hours a day, with 24-hour physician availability.
CAMC's Medical Rehabilitation Center offers a sophisticated array of services that are not available at other hospitals in the state. We offer the only med rehab program with physiatrists who have completed specialized training in brain injury and spinal cord rehabilitation. The 40-bed facility is staffed by physiatrists who hold the Functional Independence Measure Certification. In addition, the center offers CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited programs in stroke (adult), brain injury (adult and children), inpatient and outpatient spinal cord rehabilitation (adult and children) and comprehensive rehabilitation (adult).
Our interdisciplinary team includes:
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Recreational Therapy
- Social Services
- Ancillary Support (Dietary, Respiratory Services, Counseling/Pastoral Care)
Patients at the center are recovering from a wide range of physical disabilities, including spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, strokes, amputations and orthopedic injuries. Our goal is to support activities that help patients integrate physical challenges into their lifestyle. We work closely with each patient's referring physician and family to set a plan for achieving the patient's goals.
The Medical Rehabilitation Center is located at CAMC General Hospital along with CAMC's Neurosciences Center and Level I Trauma Center.
