It’s no secret that education and training for a career can be expensive, and it can take years for graduates to pay off student loans.

Recognizing this and a need to grow its own workforce, CAMC has been investing millions of dollars annually in education assistance and loan forgiveness programs for employees.

“Health care worker shortages are at an all-time high, including in West Virginia, so it is critical that we build a solid pipeline of clinicians who are committed to equitably serving the state they call home and the people they understand best,” said Dave Ramsey, President and CEO, Vandalia Health.

The CAMC Foundation provides millions of dollars annually to support a series of programs that provide financial and educational assistance to our employees.

Each year, CAMC spends $250,000 to assist over 3,000 nurses and allied health professionals to maintain their continuing education credits.

CAMC also allocates funds to support about 200 nurse externs in study materials to help them pass their National Council Licensure Examination.

“Our remarkable and talented staff is the backbone of our organization and the reason we can provide award-winning health care to our community,” said Glenn Crotty, Jr, MD, President and CEO, Charleston Area Medical Center. “That’s why we are proud to offer educational assistance to our dedicated workforce as they continue to grow within our organization.”

“At CAMC, we value our more than 8,000 hardworking and talented members on our team,” said Anita Ferguson, CAMC Director of Talent Acquisition. “By providing access to higher education to our employees, we can combat staffing shortages for clinical positions and even support the local economy.”
