CAMC’s Community Care mobile unit regularly provides testing and medicine services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Once a quarter, the mobile unit partners with the Street Dog Coalition, a national nonprofit that works across the country with local veterinarians to provide free animal care for the pets of these patients.
Valley West Veterinary Hospital in Charleston is the primary vet and brings several staff to help.
One day in early March, they provided services to 32 dogs and one cat.
The partnership helps develop relationships with the community.
