Greenbrier Valley Medical Center recently experienced the death of an employee who worked in surgery.
To support grieving employees, administration called Volunteer Services about pet therapy.
When Volunteer Services reached out to the Healing Hounds volunteers and shared the request, they received not one, but two responses from willing volunteers.
Jim Wilmoth and Steve Ray own Healing Hounds and regularly visit staff and patients. Wilmoth and his Healing Hound, Jordan, along with Ray and his Healing Hound, Cactus Jack, made trips on two separate days to bring smiles to the employees at GVMC.
This is what makes volunteers so valuable to our health system. They give of their resources whenever they can. We all know that time is valuable, and volunteers serve our system with their time every day.
