On Labor Day weekend, 5 Front, Memorial Hospital, had a patient who had been admitted for over 30 days. He owns a farm and was feeling depressed because he missed his animals.
The Health Unit Coordinator, Marissa Fisher, began making calls to see if a therapy dog could visit the patient.
Fisher spent a great deal of time finding a way to contact Cactus Jack’s owner and was able to get him to bring Cactus Jack to see the patient.
Fisher’s thoughtfulness and diligence paid off for the patient. When Cactus Jack came to visit, the patient started crying because he was so happy and thanked the staff.
