Caring for Our Community
At CAMC, you can continue the legacy of providing national-level and locally vital health care. CAMC is home to one of the largest heart programs in the United States, the highest-level trauma center, neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric intensive care unit, a kidney transplant center and the only freestanding children’s hospital in the state.
CAMC has been recognized nationally for its quality of care in cardiology, orthopedics, neurology and other specialties.
Practicing Medicine at CAMC
CAMC supports private, academic and hospital-based practice.
As a member of the medical staff, CAMC will connect you to a wide range of general and specialty care practices.
CAMC employs nearly 200 doctors at CAMC hospitals and multi-specialty clinics in Charleston and throughout the surrounding area. These physicians provide comprehensive health care services – including specialty care, acute care and ambulatory care – all in easily accessible locations.
CAMC also employs hospitalists to work exclusively in the hospital to manage the care of patients in coordination with primary care physicians and specialists.
Academics and Research
CAMC is an academic medical center that encourages innovation. Many residents who train here, stay here to begin their careers.
CAMC recruits and retains physicians who teach and strive for excellence and quality. Faculty members focus on introducing residents to different health care settings and locations to ensure a fulfilling educational experience.
Hundreds of active research protocols are in progress at the CAMC Clinical Trials Center, where the team is experienced in conducting drug, device, bio-repository and quality of life trials in many therapeutic areas.
The Center is committed to providing patients in West Virginia access to leading research studies while ensuring compassionate care that expands medical knowledge. The application of what is learned from research is vital to the improvement of health, quality of service and patient care throughout our state and region.
