April Dawson is an integration architect for the IT Apps Core.
She was nominated for her leadership role in the 2022 Cerner Upgrade.
This annual process starts very early in the first quarter and ramps up steadily over the year, requiring a great deal of time throughout the year to have a successful upgrade in December.
Dawson led this upgrade for CAMC in 2022, but this time there were increased challenges due to competing priorities, movement of team staff members and increased support for our growing number of systems.
Dawson’s experience, knowledge of this process from previous years and her continuous drive for excellence at CAMC was demonstrated as she helped her teammates excel in their roles. She led by example in the
quality and timeliness of her own contributions to the project.
“CAMC was the first health system, globally, to implement this latest release of the Cerner EHR and it went smoothly, thanks in large part to April’s technical expertise, knowledge of CAMC, leadership and coaching skills,” according to the nomination. “April encourages others to see I/T services through the patient’s eyes, promoting patient satisfaction and positive patient outcomes in many ways.”
