Sarah Ray is a Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certified RN in the post anesthesia care unit at SurgiCare. During the evening church service on Easter Sunday, Ray noticed a father in a nearby church pew, pushing forcefully on an infant’s abdomen. She could tell the baby and entire family were in distress, so she jumped from her seat and ran over to assist.
Ray grabbed the baby, performed the Heimlich maneuver, and the object, which was a quarter, became dislodged from the infant’s airway.
