Tristan Coots is a new graduate nurse in the surgical trauma ICU.
Coots demonstrated exceptional compassion and dedication while caring for a pediatric patient diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Despite the patient’s initial resistance to care and emotional distress, Coots approached the situation with patience and empathy.
Recognizing the importance of spiritual support, Coots engaged the patient in a heartfelt conversation about faith, providing comfort and solace during a difficult time.
His tender approach paved the way for the patient to connect with a family pastor and ultimately find solace in his faith. Coots was able to do all of this within just a few hours after taking over care for the patient.
Throughout the patient’s stay, Coots’ compassionate approach fostered cooperation and a renewed outlook on life.
