There's now a bench to sit and enjoy the reclaimed beauty of the area between the employee parking garage at CAMC Memorial Hospital and the CAMC Foundation Hospitality House.
For decades, the valley was full of tangled grapevines, weeds and trash. Over the past couple of years, Dr. Fred Kerns and a friend, Hugh Wright, removed trash, cut brush and planted grass along the walkway from the sidewalk down to the creek. They did the work during evenings and weekends.
Memorial Hospital’s first impressions team installed the bench and a plaque, next to the parking lot, to thank Dr. Kerns for his help in improving the appearance of the area.
